Residents of Enugu were left in shock after two itinerant nail cutters, commonly referred to as “Aboki,” were reportedly captured for allegedly injecting HIV into an Igbo man’s leg while providing a nail-cutting service.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim had approached one of the nail cutters for a routine pedicure when the suspect sprayed a liquid substance on his toenails before cutting. Shortly after, the man felt a sharp sting in his leg and grew suspicious. Upon closer examination, it was discovered that the spray bottleโtypically used to moisten nails before cuttingโwas allegedly laced with the virus.
Locals quickly intervened, capturing the two suspects before alerting the authorities. Reports suggest that similar cases may have occurred, prompting security agencies to investigate whether this was an isolated incident or part of a larger scheme.
