JUST IN: U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States is currently engaged in “direct talks” with Nigeria regarding the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Speaking at a press briefing, President Trump emphasized the importance of human rights and due process, noting that Washington is closely monitoring the situation. He stated, โWe are having direct conversations with the Nigerian government about Mr. Kanu. We believe in fairness and weโre hoping for a peaceful resolution.โ
