DSS Lawyers Flee as No One Appears to Defend FG Against Nnamdi KanuโJudge Issues Ultimatum
In a stunning development at the Federal High Court, not a single lawyer appeared today to represent the Nigerian government in the ongoing trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
All legal representatives previously assigned to the case have reportedly withdrawn, raising suspicions that the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Federal Government may have no credible evidence to justify Kanuโs continued detention.
The presiding judge, visibly displeased by the government’s failure to appear, issued a stern warning: if no lawyer shows up to represent the state by May 7th, the court will have no choice but to dismiss the case and grant Nnamdi Kanu unconditional release.
In addition, the judge declared that Kanu may be awarded โฆ100 million in compensation for his unlawful arrest and prolonged detention.
