Emerging report indicates that the wife of a popular Yoruba Activist, Sunday Adeyemo, commonly known as Sunday Igboho, was abducted by the gunmen who attacked his house, in the early hours of Thursday.
The Leader of the umbrella body of the Yoruba self-determination groups, Ilana Omo Oodua, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye, revealed this in a statement personally signed by him and made available to Newsmen by his Communications Manager, Mr. Maxwell Adeleye.
The statement titled: ‘Yoruba Nation: Elements of the Nigerian Army, Accompanied by International Terrorists hired by the Nigerian State attacked Sunday Ighoho’s Residence – Akintoye’, alleged that “the assailants were all dressed in Military uniform, and spoke French language fluently”.
He added that: “The gunmen killed 7 occupants in the building, and whisked Igboho’s wife and several others away.”
The incident reportedly happened 72-hours to the Yoruba Nation Lagos State rally, slated for Saturday, which will be attended by Akintoye and Igboho.
Elsewhere, another report by Sunday Igboho’s Spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, said that 2 persons were killed during the early morning attack.
His words in a Facebook live video: “The situation now is very bad. Two Yoruba sons have been killed in the house of Chief Sunday Igboho. The two dead bodies have been taken away by the Military. We do not know of the location where they were taken to.
“I can confirm that those who came are definitely Nigerian Soldiers. There are more than 100 Soldiers that came.
“The situation is very active, as more Security Operatives in about 7 Nigerian Army patrol vans have arrived.”
“He (Sunday Igboho) is currently safe.”
Also, some of the occupants of the house were said to have been whisked away by the gunmen.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Adewale Osifeso, when contacted, said that he also heard about the invasion, but would find out to know what exactly happened.
