President Muhammadu Buhari, has on Thursday, directed the suspension of the publication of the recently issued Executive Order 10 in the Federal Government’s Official Gazette, Page 36 has learnt.
Recall, that President Buhari recently signed the Executive Order 10 of 2020, for the implementation of Financial Autonomy of State Legislature and State Judiciary.
The publication would have signalled the commencement of the application of the Order by affected parties.
It was gathered from Senior Officials at the Federal Ministry of Justice, the Ministry responsible for such publications, that the publication was scheduled for this week.
However, it was learnt that the President agreed to a postponement of the publication, until after adequate consultations among Stakeholders, when he met with a team from the Nigeria Governors Forum, NGF, led by its Chairman, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, who convinced him to postpone the publication.
The Governors resolved at the meeting, to congratulate the President, “for the decision to postpone the formal publication of the Executive Order Number 10 of 2020, in the Official Gazette, to enable further consultations among all Stakeholders”.
The Governors disclosed in a communique issued at the end of the meeting, that the NGF has constituted a Committee, led by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, to continue meeting with representatives “of the Conference of Speakers and other Stakeholders, to work out modalities for resolving all concerns regarding Executive Order #10 amicably”.
