Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has arrived Bamako, the capital city of Mali, on a Presidential Aircraft, for a crucial Diplomatic assignment,
Jonathan, on his arrival at Bamako, said that he is on a Peace Mission to the West African country, as a Leader of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS.
His words: “I arrived Bamako, on Wednesday evening, with my Delegation, to begin my assignment as Leader of @ecowas_cedeao Peace Mission to Mali.
“I am optimistic that our Mission will yield positive results. Our message of peace and progress has so far been well received by Stakeholders.”
Recall, that Jonathan was appointed as a Special Envoy to Mali, with the mandate to resolve the worsening socio-political situation in the country.
The high-profile appointment was given to Jonathan on Tuesday, July 14, by ECOWAS.
As part of his duties, the former Nigerian Leader is to convene a series of talks with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, opposition bigwigs, civil society, as well as religious bodies.
