Scores of residents of Kaduna Central Senatorial District, have reportedly taken to the streets, in protest of the alleged non-performance by Senator Uba Sani, who represents the District in the 9th Senate of the National Assembly,
The protest witnessed a large turnout of protesters who are mostly youths.
Marching from Rigasa town, in Igabi Local Government Area, to the Kaduna metropolis, the protesters carried placards with various inscriptions such as: ‘No more Uba Sani’, ‘We do not want Uba Sani’, ‘Uba Sani has failed us’, among others.
According to the protesters, the protest followed a discovery that the Senator had shut down all communication windows with his Constituents, adding that, all his offices across the Local Government Councils which he represents, have remain closed since his successful election into Office.
While accusing the Lawmaker of non-performance in Office, the youths also alleged that Senator Sani has never visited the Constituency, since his election in 2019.
They further alleged that he has been ‘sleeping’ in the National Assembly, saying that, he is not being visible on the floor of the Senate.
A female protester, a resident of Barnawa, who spoke on condition of anonymity, accused Senator Sani of not being accessible to his Constituents, as well as refusing to assist victims of kidnapping and insecurity now pervading the Constituency.
Another protester also alleged that Senator Sani, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banks and Financial Institutions, has not “executed any meaningful Constituency projects from the 2020 budget”.
The youth lamented: “Senator Sani’s attitude has continued to deny us of the dividends of democracy, that should have accrued to us since his election in 2019.”
