Exclusive report reaching on Sunday, indicates that barring any last minute change of mind, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, is set to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the refusal of the party to support an increase in youths and women participation in politics in the State.
This was made know by a very reliable top Aide to the Governor, who further disclosed to Page 36, that a crucial meeting of PDP Stakeholders held today, in the State, where “some nasty things were said”, which made the decision of the Governor to leave the party easy, because of his fight for an increase in youths and women participation in politics, not just in the State, but in the entire country.
You may recall, that Governor Obaseki has never hidden his love and support for the future generation, which he believes so much in.
You may recall also, that some weeks ago, he had announced that he was going to put in more efforts to engage the youths in the State, in more positive activities that can build their future, in order to reduce their involvement in internet fraud activities, stressing that, the youths are too brilliant to be allowed to waste their brilliance and intelligence on just crimes.
Speaking further on some of the issues the Governor who defected to the PDP from the All Progressives Congress, APC, just moments before his second term victorious election, the Aide revealed that over 600,000 new members of the PDP have been refused access to the party in the State, despite their allegiance to the party.
The Aide revealed also that Governor Obaseki insists that things must really change in the State, and not just on the surface, stressing that, “we cannot continue to impose Leaders on the people; that is how we got here in the first place”.
He said that Governor Obaseki’s main concern is that if the PDP continues in its old ways of politics, it will not have a strong footing going into the next elections.
