First Lady Aisha Buhari has continued to ignore calls from concerned Nigerians, Activists, Local and International Non-Governmental Organisations, NGOs, others, for the release of a University Final Year Student, Aminu Adamu, who she reportedly ordered the Department of State Security Services, DSS, to arrest and lockup until further notice, in violation of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, for attacking her sudden massive weight gain, allegedly, Page 36 learnt.
Recall, that Aminu Adamu, a Student of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, has been in detention for commenting on Aisha’s weight gain.
Recall also, that in June 2022, the Undergraduate had tweeted: “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi”; meaning: “The mother has gotten fatter by eating the masses’ money”.
Reacting, Aminu’s friends said that the tweet was in protest of the 8-month old strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which had left many Nigerian Public University Students idle and frustrated, especially after watching their counterparts who are children of Politicians complete their studies in Foreign Universities without any hitches.
After the revelation of Aminu’s ordeal by Peoples Gazette, Nigerians have been clamouring for his immediate trial or release, but to no avail.
The 23-year-old, arrested within the University Campus, around 12noon, on November 8, was only allowed to speak to his father, Shalele Azare Adamu, so far.
As at Sunday night, Aisha Buhari was trending on Twitter, with more than 60,000 mentions, as users mounted pressure on the Authorities to free the Student, but still to no avail.
Prominent Activists like Aisha Yesufu, Inibehe Effiong, as well as NGOs like Amnesty International, have also joined their voices with those of other Nigerians to call for Aminu’s immediate release, but the First Lady has damned them and the Laws of Nigeria.
