The House of Representatives has on Friday, totally condemned the inhuman treatment meted out on some Nigerians and other Africans, by the Chinese government, in Beijing.
At a meeting with the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pingjian, which also had the Minority Leader, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, and the Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Toby Okechukwu, in attendance, the Speaker of the House of Reps., Femi Gbajabiamila, said that such treatment of Nigerians in China, must be addressed with immediate effect.
The Speaker also went ahead to confront the Ambassador with a video in which a Nigerian was seen challenging Chinese Officials, over the maltreatment, which has since gone viral on the social media.
According to the Speaker, viral social media contents from Beijing, showed Nigerians being forced out of their houses and hotels, rounded up, and their passports seized by the Chinese Police.
The viral videos also showed that some Nigerians were being forced into another 14-day quarantine, after the initial 14 days they had spent for the same purpose, over the Covid-19 pandemic in China.
The Speaker, noted that there should be an official explanation for treating Nigerians in such inhuman and dehumanising manner by the Chinese authorities, for no just cause.
