The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, on Wednesday, called on the 2023 Presidential Candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu, and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, to step down for the Labour Party Candidate, Peter Obi, to emerge as the winning Candidate for the election, arguing that among the 3 men, Obi only, “has the capacity to deliver and to make things work for our country Nigeria”, .
He also said that he would have worked for the success of the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, if he was not a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Governor Ortom spoke when he hosted Peter Obi at his private residence, in Abuja.
His words exactly: “The frontrunners of this 2023 Presidential election are the 3 of them (Tinubu, Atiku and Obi). Let us look at this 3 people; who has the capacity to deliver and to make things work for our country Nigeria?
“Let us be factual, let us be frank with ourselves, because we are towing with out future; a country of over 200 million people deserve a better Leadership that is proactive, that has fore sighting, that has vision to make things work for our country.
“I look forward that these 3 Candidates of the various political parties will meet and say, ‘look, let this man go (let Obi alone emerge)’.
“I am in PDP and I am working for PDP, but I tell you if I were not in PDP, you will see me working for Peter Obi, but I am in PDP. Let us see how things work out, but the truth is that the Bible says a man can receive nothing except it is given to him.
“Honestly, Nigerians should look for nothing less than having the best! No sentiments or partisanship, no sentiments of where you come from, but sentiments about who can fix Nigeria.”
