A former Vice President and 2023 Presidential Aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed his desire to retain his fellow Presidential Aspirant under the PDP, Peter Obi, as his running mate, if he clinches the Presidential ticket of the main opposition party, promising also to give him (Peter Obi) his full support, if he gets the majority votes of the PDP Delegates at the party’s primary election and emerges as the party’s Presidential Candidate, Page 36 learnt.
An Associate of Atiku revealed this.
Speaking on the events surrounding zoning and other party matters, he stated: “Peter Obi is running, because the party did not zone the ticket to any region; they will certainly throw the ticket open.
“Every qualified Aspirant will contest, and the best will emerge as the Candidate of the party. We cannot ask him not to contest, since the ticket is not zoned to any particular region.
“If Obi is lucky enough to get the majority of the Delegates and becomes the Presidential Candidate, Atiku and all of us will give him maximum support.”
