…Says foreigners own over 50 percent filling stations

The decision by the Federal Government to close the country’s land borders has yielded positive result for the country’s security, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has said.
The border closure, Mohammed said has drastically reduced insecurity in the Northwest as it has helped to cut off the supply chains of bandits and other armed groups in the region.
Besides, he said the country has experienced a drastic reduction in arm importation, cattle rustling and smuggling of petroleum products among others.
The minister who spoke on Monday at the Nigeria/Niger border post, Magama -Jibia, Katsina State when the Federal Government High Power delegation visited the border post revealed that the country has also recorded about 30 percent reduction in local consumption of petroleum products as a result of banning supply to border areas.
He further revealed that over 50% of the hundreds of petrol stations along the magama Jibia border are owned by foreigners.
