The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said that he would be making his next move known officially, after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.
He made this known via his Twitter handle on Sunday.
He tweeted: “I appreciate the sustained show of solidarity, support, and goodwill from Edo people and Nigerians, in the face of injustice by the @OfficialAPCNg Screening Committee. I will be making my next move known, after I complete consultations with my supporters and meet with @MBuhari.”
Recall, that Page 36 reported unofficially and authoritatively, that Governor Obaseki has defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday, June 12, after the APC Screening Committee disqualified him from the party’s Governorship primary election in Edo State, holding on June 22.
While other consultations are still going on in the PDP, to finalise on what basis the party’s ticket will be handed over to the Governor, with possible waivers and privileges, he is yet to announce his defection personally and officially.
His failure to officially announce his defection yet, is however, seen as a sign of respect; that he meets with the President, who is a Leader of the party, before making his defection official to the public.
Recall, that Governor Obaseki met with Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who is a Leader of his new party, the PDP, a few hours ago, on Sunday. He has also been consulting with other PDP Leaders, including a former Vice President and Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, reportedly.
