The Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, has on Monday, called on the Nigerian Army to deploy more Soldiers to the State, amid the incessant attacks by the armed Fulani bandits terrorising the State, .
Governor Tambuwal made the request when the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant-General Farouk Yahaya, visited the State.
He stated that as a result of the ongoing Military operations in Zamfara State, the bandits have been migrating to Sokoto State, rendering the State insecure.
He urged the Military to carry out a simultaneous operation in all States facing the challenges of banditry and other related security issues in the North-West.
Governor Tambuwal also confirmed that bandits attacked Goronyo Market, on Sunday night, disclosing that about 30 people were killed.
He pledged that his administration would continue to support the Army and other Security Operatives, to see that the State is rid of all criminal elements.
Speaking, COAS Yahaya called on Army Commanders to always reach out to major Stakeholders among the civilian populace.
He stressed that security is everybody’s business, urging the residents in the State, to keep collaborating with the Nigerian Army.
According to him, credible information will aid the troops as they continue to oust criminal elements from the State and the entire region.
He also urged the people to collaborate with the Nigerian Army, for the effective elimination of criminal elements within the society.
