The Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari, has announced the relaxation of the lockdown in the State, for one week, starting from Monday, May 18, just ahead of the sallah celebrations.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mustapha Inuwa.
The statement read in part: “The Governor noted that two-third of the Covid-19 cases in the State falls within Katsina Local Government, and therefore, warned residents of the area to strictly observe and adhere to all protocols given by Health/Security Officials, such as wearing face masks, social distancing, regular washing of hands, and use of sanitisers, etc.”
According to the statement, the Governor explained that the decision to relax the lockdown for a week, followed a review meeting with Religious Leaders and other Stakeholders, emphasising that it is in the best interest of the people of the State.
He, however, directed Muslim faithfuls to stay in their domains to observe the forthcoming Eid-El-Fitri prayers, amid celebrations.
