Emerging report reaching on Monday, indicates that the residents of Gidan-Goga Village of Maradun Local Government Area, in Zamfara State, have paid the N20 million levy imposed on them by the armed Fulani bandits terrorists Leader, Bello Turji, in order to avoid attacks, under President Muhammadu Buhari’s watch as the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Recall, that Turji had imposed the N20 million levy on the residents of the village, and asked them to pay the money on or before Sunday, November 27, or face his wrath.
He had threatened to attack the village, if the money was not paid on or before the deadline.
Giving an update, an indigene of the area who begged for anonymity citing obvious security concerns, told The Punch that the money was paid yesterday, Sunday, adding that some people who fled to other places for fear of being killed, had started returning to the village.
His words: “Many people, including myself, have returned to the village, because of the payment of the levy.”
He stressed that an additional amount of N6 million was also paid by the community for the release of 5 people abducted by Turji’s men some weeks ago.
He added: “We paid additional sum of N6 million for the release of 5 people abducted by the terrorists who belonged to Bello Turji’s camp.”
