Emerging breaking report reaching on Saturday morning, indicates that the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, has affirmed the election of Duoye Diri, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the authentic Governor of Bayelsa State.
The 3-man Panel of the Tribunal, took the decision, a month after the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal filed by a former Aspirant of the Bayelsa State Governorship election, under the PDP, Timi Alaibe, challenging the Candidacy of Douye Diri, in the November 2019, election.
In a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Owodunni, the Tribunal held that the petition filed by Owei Woniwei, of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, was incompetent and lacked merit.
The Tribunal further held that the Petitioner failed to prove the allegations of the forged declaration of age and the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Discharge Certificate levelled against the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Oborawharievwo Ewhrudjakpo.
