Following the alleged attacks meted on northerners at Sasha market in Ibadan, Oyo state, President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to declare Sunday Igboho and his group as a terrorist organisation
The Sun reports that the plea was made by the Northern Youths Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Sunday, February 14.
In a statement by Isah Abubakar and Mock Kure, its president and spokesman respectively.
The group explained that the Yoruba activist is not different from Boko Haram.
The northern youths are of the opinion that the government’s inability to tame Igboho’s lawless wings led to the emergence of renewed attacks on people.
This development is coming as the youths called on northerners not to make any trips to the southwest for now.
The NYCN expressed concerns following the alleged constant attacks against northerners.
Arewa youths in a statement from its spokesman strongly condemned the attack and called on security agents to arrest the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, President Buhari had warned Nigerians to avoid stoking violence through ethnic hatred.
The Nigerian leader gave the warning in a statement issued by a presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu via Facebook on Sunday, February 14.
According to the statement, the president’s warning was in reaction to reports of the breakout of violence in some parts of the country by some ethnic and sectional groups.
