Abuja – The FCT Ministerial Task Team on traffic-free flow has cleared construction waste from the demolition of perimeter fences and other encroachments at Dutse Alhaji road, in Bwari Area Council.
The Team in collaboration with officials of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) lead Town planner Kaka Bello and some senior development control department officials, carried out the cleanup exercise.
Speaking to newsmen during the cleanup exercise, the Chairman of the Task Team, Ikharo Attah said the exercise was to further widen the road, which is experiencing slow vehicular movement due to ongoing construction works there.

According to him, “with the evacuation of the waste, the road is now widened to accommodate more moving vehicles at a time, which will help reduce the time spent in traversing the area”.
He, however, warned that the chairman warned the banks and owners of commercial property along the road not to reopen the illegal entrances which were sealed over contraventions of the land use act, which affect the free flow of traffic.
It would be recalled that the Team last weekend pulled down parts of the perimeter fences of a commercial bank and some other business premises located by the roadside on the busy Dutse-Alhaji axis connecting Bwari and other adjoining towns to the city centre.
The exercise followed the expiration of a seventy-two-hour ultimatum to the owners of the affected property, had directed them to use their approved entrance point which was in street behind. The property owners were also directed to close their current entrance, which is a violation of the approved building plan.
Also, the bulldozers dismantled several makeshift structures within a shanty on the street, just behind the commercial properties to ensure their owners easily access their plots.
