Emerging report exclusively reaching , indicates that some Northerners may choose to vote along ethical and religious lines in the 2023 general elections, especially the Presidential election.
An All Progressives Congress, APC, Chieftain who spoke to Page 36 on Tuesday, said that the North is not comfortable with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, because he married a Pastor, Senator Remi Tinubu, despite being a Muslim.
Page 36 recalls, that Tinubu although being a Muslim, is happily married to Oluremi, the Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
She was ordained as an Assistant Pastor, at Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, in 2018.
Speaking Exclusively to Page 36, the APC Chieftain said: “We in the North are not favourably disposed to Tinubu’s Presidency in 2023, based on religious point of view. This implies that if Tinubu wins, his wife, Pastor Oluremi, will become the First Lady. You know that Tinubu is expected to pick a Vice President who is a Christian. This implies, that the first Lady and the Vice President will be a Christian.
“Religiously speaking, we the Northern Muslims, are not comfortable with that. Christians will eventually take over the government.”
When Page 36’s Correspondent asked him to consider the fact that Nigeria should go beyond religious politics, but look at the competence of the person running for the particular Office, he stated: “You cannot divorce religion from politics in the North. Politics is all about interest.”
