A former Minister of Aviation and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to the appointment of Major-General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff, COAS, by President Muhammadu Buhari, .
Fani-Kayode charged the new COAS to take the fight against insurgency and insecurity to the gates of the enemy of the country, as he takes over leadership of the Military.
While congratulating the new COAS, he urged him to “crush” those behind insecurity in Nigeria.
His exact words: “Congratulations to Major-General Yahaya on his appointment as Nigeria’s new Chief of Army Staff.
“Now is the time to take the battle to the gates of the enemy, and utterly crush them. Godspeed!”
Maj.-Gen. Yahaya was a former General Officer Commanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counter-Terrorism Counter-Insurgency Military outfit in the North-East, codenamed Operation HADIN KAI.
The Acting Director, Defence Information, Defence Headquarters, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, announced his appointment by President Buhari in a statement earlier today.
