Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has called on Nigerians, just ahead of the 2023 general elections, to start talking about quality Leadership, adding that, if all they are talking about is party politics, where you come from, language, religion, and other irrelevant matters, Nigeria is not going to change for the best, .
He stressed that Nigerians must look for Leaders who would listen to them, and would do anything possible to improve on their quality of life, as well as address other needs that would make life better for them, and build them a country, they will all be proud of.
The former Senate President made this known on Friday, October 1, 2021, during a private event hosted by him, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary.
The event was mainly organised for Saraki to interact with some youths, chat with them, and answer some pressing questions on their minds, regarding the state and future of the country.
Speaking further, Saraki said that Nigerians must abandon Politicians who have no business being Leaders, and look for
He partly said: “What we need to be talking about is quality of Leadership. If the issues are about where you come from, or your religion, the language you speak, I do not think we are ready to change this country.
“What we need to make issues are: ‘How do we see a better Nigeria?’, and that is what I think we need to focus on, ‘What will get us to have a better country with good Leadership?’.
“It is bad Leadership that is the major issue that we are where we are today; that is the truth. We have to accept it and we have to take responsibility for it; all of us, including me standing here.
“People that have no business in government, we should leave them where they are, and go and look for people who really have business in government.”
