The current minister of transportation, Honorable Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi appears to have revisited identity crisis after he claims to be more of an Igbo than Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
It would be noted that, Rotimi Amaechi hails from Ubima of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Many people from that areas would never accept being identified as Igbo no matter how they are being convinced.
But Amaechi stunned many on Friday after he declared himself as a bona-fide Igbo person.
The former speaker of Rivers State State House of Assembly went further to compare himself to Abia State Senator, Abaribe. According to him, he is even more Igbo than senator Enyinnaya Abaribe.
The serving minister made the disclosure yesterday Friday when he appeared on NTA’s television program “Good Morning Nigeria”
He made the claim while clearing the air on Eastern railway network.
Amaechi accepted that his name is derived from Igbo dialect which can be translated as “who knows tomorrow”.
Amaechi’s claims contradicts the belief of the current Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike who also come from the same local government area.
Igbo people will no doubt be thankful to Mr AMAECHI for not denying his place of origin and hope he works for the interest of his people the Igbos.
