I was posted to Anambra state in the year 2018 for my compulsory one year service to my fatherland,Nigeria. That was the first time I will be visiting the eastern part of Nigeria.I hail from Owo town in Ondo state,Southwest,Nigeria and going for my service year in an Eastern state afforded me the golden opportunity to view the narratives and sights of the Igbo people.
I was stationed in Abagana as my Place of Primary Assignments (PPA).It was there I met my girlfriend who later became my wife. Her name is Chinenye.
How I married Chinenye because of the aroma of her delicacy.
Chinenye was my neighbour in Anambra state, she is a good cook who loves to cook Igbo delicacies like Abacha,Okpa and soups like Oha,Ofe Onugbo(bitterleaf soup),Nsala,Ofe Akwu otherwise known as Bangs soup and many other mouthwatering soups. She is a super star when it comes to cooking and I believed that is her own talent.
Her room is close to my door and every time she starts making those palatable dishes, the aroma will start oozing out from her pot directly to my room, after some time,I became her friend just to have a taste of her delicious meal. The first time I tasted it,I felt so elated because I haven’t tasted such super delicious soup since I was born.
We later got to know more about each other and after months of our friendship,I told her that I will like to marry her and she agreed.Although her parents objected the union at first because I am not from the Igbo tribe but when they discovered I meant well for their daughter, they finally agreed to our relationship. Now we are happily married and blessed with a kid.
