A trader in Rivers State, Engineer Princewill Didia has called on well-meaning Nigerians via a post on Facebook to prevail on Governor Nyesom Wike to open markets in the State
Engineer Princewill Didia said the call became necessary after his goods worth over N800,000 expired because of the COVID-19 lockdown imposed by the governor since March 2020.He said it has become an uphill task for him to feed his family of 5 children, threatening that he may commit suicide in order to escape the economic hardship he is facing.
Engineer Didia made the threat when he commented on a Facebook post published by the Governor on Thursday titled, “Governor Wike rescues former NDDC MD, calls on Inspector General of Police to investigate her attempted abduction.”Didia wrote, “Someone should tell Governor Nyesom Wike to open markets in Rivers State.
This wickedness of Wike has to stop, let Nigerians come to our rescue let them know that you locked all markets since the 28th of March 2020 to date. Nigerians should hear this wickedness from you to Rivers traders.
“We are dying of hunger for the past 5months, now Wike is only interested in us paying him money before he will allow traders to open.“As I am calling Nigerians for help, half of my goods worth about N800,000, [eight hundred thousand Naira] have expired in the market [mile 3 market] in Rivers State.
“About 230 cartons of Indomie noodles have expired in my shop as at yesterday, amounting to six hundred and something thousand Naira.“Does Wike want me to commit suicide? Nigerians help us we are depressed. I am dying, and can no longer borrow to feed my 5 children and wife and family.
