The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, has on Thursday, revealed that the recent promotion of the sacked Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, came after his retirement, as against what was widely reported in the Media,
He said this when he featured as a guest on the weekly Ministerial Briefing, organised by the Presidential Communication Team, at the Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
Recall, that the Police Service Commission, PSC, had on Monday, claimed that it had approved the promotion of the former EFCC Acting Chairman, just before his retirement from the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, having clocked the age of 60, on May 5, 2022, and with the recommendation of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Baba.
However, when asked why Magu was promoted, the Minister said that it is the responsibility of the PSC, which is under the Presidency, to provide the answer.
He noted also that Magu had already retired, stating nonetheless, that being retired will not preclude him from any disciplinary measures, should the need arise.
