The Governor of Niger State, Abubakar Sani-Bello, has on Thursday, lamented over the attitude of the President Muhammadu Buhari Federal Government towards the rescue of the abducted Kagara Students and Staff,
He claimed that the Federal Government has left Niger State to its fate.
Speaking while playing host to a former Abia State Governor and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu, who paid him a sympathy visit at the Government House, in Minna, the State capital, Governor Sani-Bello noted that the efforts of the State Government towards rescuing the abductees are not really showing, because of the Federal Government’s attitude.
He stated that the Federal Government had sent a Delegation to the State, and deplored 300 Mobile Policemen to the State, but left the State Government to shoulder all the financial responsibility.
His words: “So where is the support? At the moment, we have not seen any Federal support here since this incident occurred. Yes, we had a Delegation that came to commensurate with, but we are left to ourselves.”
The Governor further stated that the State Government will rescue the abducted Schools Students, with or without the support of the Federal Government.
“We will use whatever means and resources available to make sure the children return home safely. We do not have an exact day and when these children will be released, but I am very sure very soon.”
The Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor-Kalu, speaking, said that he was in the State to identify with the government and people of Niger State, in this time of trouble.
“We sympathise with you, and we share in your grieve at the moment. We know what you are going through, and this why am calling on the Federal Government, to try to set up a Joint Security Committee in your State, to be able to have the Representatives of all the Forces stationed in the State, to complement the existing Command in the State”, he said.
