Emerging report indicates that 3 Jukun Fishermen have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, in connection with last Saturday’s attack on the convoy of the Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, along Tyo Mu, in Makurdi, the State capital.
The Security Adviser to Governor Ortom, Col. Paul Hemba, confirmed the arrest while showing Newsmen around the scene of the attack, on Tuesday.
Hemba stated that the Police team found the Fishermen close to the scene of the attack, and are being investigated.
Page 36 recalls, that the Police have refused to go after a Fulani Movement, who had earlier claimed responsibility for the attack, but have instead, decided to arrest mere Fishermen.
Recall also, that the Fulani group identified as the Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM, boldly and publicly claimed responsibility for the attack on the Governor of Benue State, saying that the intention was to kill him, for daring to stop open grazing in the State, and promising to kill him very soon.
