NIS to commence e-registration of non-Nigerians in Nasarawa December
In compliance with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nasarawa State office of the Nigerian Immigration Service will commence the e-registration of non-Nigerians in the first week of December.
This was disclosed by the state comptroller of service, Zanaib Lawal when she paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Kwandere, Ahmadu Al-Makura, on Friday.
Mrs Lawal explained that she was in the palace of the traditional ruler to solicit support for the success of the exercise.
“My mission to the traditional ruler is to solicit support and sensitize the people on the need to cooperate by giving useful information of the people around them.
“The exercise will last for six months as we await a suitable date from the state government to flag-off the exercise in December,” the comptroller said.
She, therefore, urged the people of the state to assist the service to ensure the success of the exercise which she said would help the government in taking certain policy decisions.
“The president has flagged-off the exercise in Abuja and in compliance with his directive, we will commence the exercise in Nasarawa December,” Mrs Lawal disclosed.
In his response, the emir assured the service of the “unalloyed support” of his people while promising to carry the sensitization to the hinterland.
He also called for strong laws to assist Nigerian security agencies over the issue of closure of the Nigerian borders.
Mr Al-Makura, therefore, urged the Nigerian security agencies to assist in ensuring that goods coming to Nigeria are checked to avoid illegal products from taking over Nigerian markets.
