The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, OYC, headed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, has stated that the Igbo Ethnic group has decided to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All progressives Congress, APC, for refusing to zone its 2023 Presidential ticket to the South-East region of the country,
In a statement, the group described a meeting between the National Leadership of PDP, led the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, and the South-East Governors Forum Chairman and Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, as a desperate bid to convince the Governor to shelve his decision to leave the party.
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo stated that it is the ‘last kick of a dying horse’.
The meeting which held at the Ebonyi State Liason office, in Abuja, as was also described as ‘a gathering of vultures, to continue to rape Igbo votes unjustly’.
The group accused the PDP of scheming to go against the Zoning Formula enshrined in its constitution, that favours the South-East to produce the 2023 Presidential ticket, and consequently produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in 2023.
The statement read: “South-East Governors should decamp to APC, without delay, as PDP’s Leadership deceptive visit to Umahi was an affirmative evidence that PDP is already jittery of losing Igbo votes, but it is too late for PDP, as Igbos decision of abandoning PDP is irreversible, and final verdicts of Igbo Nation.”
