ABUJA – Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State, has tasked civil servants across the country to come up with fresh ideas that would help in building a virile public service capable of sustaining the democratic experience and yearnings of Nigerians.
Okowa, who gave this task while declaring open the 41st meeting of the National Council on Establishment (NCE) in Asaba, Delta State, said civil servants are key drivers of the image and structure of government’s operations.
Okowa, represented by the Deputy Governor, Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, urged civil servants to conform strictly to the requirements of the civil service in the discharge of their responsibilities and remain non-partisan as well as ensure that discipline and professionalism were injected into the service without political bias.
A statement on Friday by Director of Information, Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Olawunmi Ogunmosunle, quoted the governor as saying that civil servants, as bureaucrats, should play greater role in the implementation of government’s decisions and policy focus.
