The Slovak Air Force suspended all training flights of its MiG-29 fighters after a single-seat MiG-29AS crashed on 28 September.
“All training flights of MiG-29 fighter planes are currently suspended, but the [NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defence] standby system is fully secured,” Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš said shortly after the accident.
Having taken off from Sliač Airbase at 2010 h local time, the aircraft was on a routine training flight with another MiG-29 when at around 2130 h local time it crashed into a forest near the village of Nové Sady in central western Slovakia. The pilot successfully ejected.
