Palestinian Islamic scholar Sheikh Issam Amira said during his weekly lesson at the Al-Aqsa Mosque that it is a great honor for the Chechen youth to have beheaded French teacher Samuel Paty and it is a great honor for all of the Muslims as well. He said that the only terrorism permitted according to Islam, is “terrorizing of enemies”.
Teacher Samuel Paty, who used the cartoons during a lesson on freedom of expression, was murdered in the street outside his school, sparking outrage and countrywide rallies supporting freedom of expression in France.
Abdoullakh, who grew up in France from age 6, was later gunned down by the police.
A number of Islamic leaders have defended the beheading.
Tunisian MP Rached Khiari had defended the beheading, saying: “Insulting the prophet of God is the greatest of crimes and anyone who commits it, whether a state, a group or an individual, must accept the consequences.”
Now, Sheikh Issam Amira, while delivering a Mosque lesson, said the beheading of Paty is “a great honour to all Muslims.”
He said: ” “Islam has nothing to do whatsoever with the term ‘terrorism,’ except for the terrorizing of enemies. The [Quran] says: ‘Prepare for them whatever force and steeds of war you can, in order to strike terror in the heart of the enemy of Allah and yours, and others besides whom you may not know but whom Allah does know.’ So terrorism is a reason for military preparation. In other words, it justifies military preparations.
“As for what people call ‘terrorism’… When a Muslim of Chechen origin beheaded an infidel who slandered the Prophet Muhammad, people called this ‘terrorism’… Well, it is a great honor for him and all Muslims that there was such a young man to defend the Prophet Muhammad. He is like the men and women who, throughout history, defended the Prophet Muhammad, his sanctity, and his honor. All these terms will be re-engineered, once the word of Allah reigns supreme over the word of the infidels.”
