The Democratic Party Presidential Candidate, Joe Biden, has surged ahead of the Republican Party Candidate, President Donald Trump, as the results of the United States, US, 2020 Presidential election are trickling in this morning,
As at 7:30am, Biden had secured 220 Electoral College votes, against President Trump’s 210.
For a Candidate to win the election, he must secure 270 Electoral College votes.
The final outcome of the election is not expected until later today, when the earlier ballots cast before the election day are collated.
The Democratic Candidate has won California (55), Connecticut (with 7 Electoral College votes), Delaware (3), Illinois (20), Maryland (10), Massachusetts (11), New Jersey (14), New Mexico (5), New York (29), Rhode Island (4), Vermont (3), Virginia (13), Idaho (4), and Colorado (9).
The Republican Candidate won in Alabama (with 9 Electoral College votes), Arkansas (6), Indiana (11), Kentucky (8), Utah (6), Louisiana (8), Mississippi (6), Nebraska (4), North Dakota (3), Oklahoma (7), South Carolina (9), South Dakota (3), Tennessee (11), West Virginia (5), Wyoming (3), Arkansas (6), and Missouri (10).
Across America, businesses closed early, and some planned to stay closed for the rest of the week, for fear of possible unrest, due to the election results announced.
It was learnt yesterday, that in preparation for a possible civil unrest, the White House where the President lives, has been covered with a new fence, to avoid any destruction or attack.
