Imo State Gorvernor, Hope Uzodinma has called on Nigerians, especially Imo people to jettison every discriminatory tendencies and make up their minds to live in harmony as members of one United and indivisible nation.
Senator Uzodinma was addressing members of Imo State Community Policing Advisory Committee, Imo State Community Policing Committee and other stakeholders before inauguration of the committee at Sam Mbakwe Exco Chamber, Imo State Government House, Owerri.
“We must live together as Nigerians, Muslims or Christians. We don’t have a choice, providence has brought us together and God approves of our togetherness. We must shun all divisive tendencies, such as spread of fake news and misinformation”.
He said the committee was coming up at a time Imo people dearly need their service and added that government designed the community policing template to ensure that indigines of communities are involved in the security and policing measures it decided to carry out, pointing out that information about criminals are vital to effective policing
Gorvernor Uzodinma expressed optimism that the programme will bring to an end, all acrimony about security in the country. He urged members of the committees to put in commitment and dedication to duty and promised to do his best to eliminate all confusion of the past he will send the bill to the State House of Assembly with immediate effect.
“We must ensure that people go about their lawful duties without any fear of molestation Kidnapping, armed robbery and all anti social vices must stop”.
Earlier, the DIG of Police in charge of Zone 9 Umuahia had said the community Policing is a purely community arrangement as the communities themselves, through their leadership and traditional rulers are the ones to nominate members of the committee.
