The All Progressives Congress, APC, has deployed its 23 State Governors to tackle the Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Professor Charles Soludo, in the November 2021, Anambra State Governorship election, .
The APC Campaign Council for the election, inaugurated by Caretaker Committee Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, is to be headed by Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma.
The members of the Council include all the APC Governors; Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege; Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Idris Wase; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva; Senator Orji Uzor Kalu; Senator George Akume; some former APC Governors; Ministers; and Party Chieftains.
The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, is the Deputy Chairman of the Council, while his counterpart from Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will head the Finance Sub-Committee. Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State will head the Special Intervention Sub-Committee, while Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, will chair the Security Committee.
Governor Buni charged the Campaign Council to ensure Senator Andy Uba, the APC Governorship Candidate in the election, emerges victorious in the poll. Urging the Council to reconcile persons aggrieved over the outcome of the Anambra State Governorship primary election, he expressed optimism that Anambra State will join the rank of APC States after the poll.
His words: “I am glad to say with a sense of satisfaction that the growing fortunes of the party in Anambra State and the South-East geopolitical zone, in general, has increased our hope for victory. This will no doubt increase our chance of winning the election with a landslide victory.
“May I call on the Committee to concentrate on issues that will add value to the success of the party, and avoid issues that may distract us from the path of victory. We should remain resolute, committed, and law-abiding throughout the assignment and beyond.”
