Emerging report indicates that some key All Progressives Congress, APC, Stakeholders, in Gombe State, have rejected the decision of Senator Mohammad Danjuma Goje (APC, Gombe Central), not to contest for an elective position in 2023.
Senator Goje, had in December 2019, announced his decision not to contest for any elective position again.
However, a motion to compel him to contest in the 2023 general elections was moved and seconded by the Stakeholders, during the unveiling of his legacy of service as a former Minister, Governor, and Senator, in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area of the State, at the weekend.
Taking turns to speak, amid thousands of Politicians from across the 11 Local Government Areas of the State, the Stakeholders threatened to institute legal action, if he refuses to heed to their calls.
Speaking during the event, a former Deputy Governor of the State, Senator Joshua Lidani, said that Senator Goje’s interventions cut across the State and the North-East Geopolitical zone, adding that, he played a critical role in the establishment of the North-East Development Commission, NEDC.
He urged him to heed to the calls of the people of the Senatorial District.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Akko Local Government Area, Alhaji Abubakar Barambu, revealed that the people of Gombe Central Senatorial District have rejected Senator Goje’s retirement.
He said: “Our people at the grassroots have mandated me to announce their endorsement of Senator Goje to continue to represent them in Gombe Central, in 2023. If he is tired, we are not tired of his representation.”
