Emerging report indicates that men of the Nigeria Police Force in Lagos State, have on Saturday, opened fire on some Yoruba Nation Agitators that dared to show up at the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, venue of their slated rally for today,
A yoghurt seller, identified simply as Jumoke, was allegedly killed by bullets reportedly fired by a Security Operative dispersing the Agitators.
Checks showed that bullets had severed the stomach of the girl, said to be 14 years.
She was reportedly displaying drinks at a shop, when the bullets hit her.
Her body has been covered with a piece of cloth, as the crowd gathered at the spot.
This was reportedly after the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP, Hakeem Odumosu, addressed Journalists at the venue, saying that no rally is allowed to hold today in the State.
Nonetheless, some Yoruba Nation Agitators dared the Security Operatives on ground, by spreading banners and flyers to announce their arrival and presence.
A few minutes later, shots were fired, and hot water from an armoured tank was sprayed to disperse the Agitators.
Some of the Agitators were also seen getting dragged into an armoured tank by Policemen.
The protesters were heard chanting different kinds of freedom songs, including: “No going back”, “We want Oodua Nation”, among others.
Some of the Agitators who spoke to Newsmen, stated that it is time to have a separate nation for the Yoruba ethnic group, because they do not have anything in common with the other ethnic groups in Nigeria.
