A former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, 2023 Presidential Candidate, defeating all Aspirants in the just concluded National Convention of the main opposition party, at the MKO Abiola Stadium, in Abuja,
Atiku won the election with a total of 371 votes; defeating the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, who polled 237 votes; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, 70 votes; Diana Oliver, 1 vote; Sam Ohuabunwa, 1 vote; Anyim Pius Anyim, 14 votes; Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, 38 votes; and the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, who polled 20 votes, among others.
With this victory, Atiku is set to face whoever the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, presents as its Presidential Candidate for the 2023 general elections, as well as Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and any other Presidential Candidate from the remaining political parties qualified to run in the elections.
