Emerging report on Tuesday, indicates that the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, generated a combined N849.123 billion as Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, in 2021, compared to the N612.87 billion generated in 2020.
A report by the National Bureau of Statistic, NBS, disclosed that N398 billion was generated in the first quarter of 2021, and N450 billion in the second quarter, making a positive growth of 13.21 percent.
The report categorised the IGR into 5 subheads of PAYE, Direct Assessment, Road Taxes, Other Taxes, and revenue from Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.
It stated that Lagos State had the highest IGR, with N267 billion, followed by the FCT, with N69 billion, and Rivers State, N57 billion.
Yobe State had the least amount with N4 billion; Taraba State, N4.7 billion; and Gombe State, N5.4 billion.
The IGR of other States within the period under review were Abia State, N7.5 billion; Adamawa State, N6 billion; Akwa Ibom State, N18 billion; Anambra State, N12.7 billion; Bauchi State, N9.4 billion; Bayelsa State, N6.4 billion; Benue State, N6.7 billion; Borno State, N9.8 billion; Cross River State, N14.7 billion; Delta State, N41.9 billion; Ebonyi State, N7.7 billion; Edo State, N17.6 billion; Ekiti State, N6.5 billion; Enugu State, N14.1 billion; Imo State, N9.9 billion; Jigawa State, N9.3 billion; Kaduna State, N26.4 billion; and Kano State, N15 billion.
Others were Katsina State, N7.4 billion; Kebbi State, N7.3 billion; Kogi State, N9.6 billion; Kwara State, N15.9 billion; Nasarawa State, N9.5 billion; Niger State, N7.9 billion; Ogun State, N54 billion; Ondo State, N17.9 billion; Osun State, N13.6 billion; Oyo State, N25.9 billion; Plateau State, N14.4 billion; Sokoto State, N8.4 billion; and Zamfara State, N8.4 billion.
The report stated that the IGR by the 6 geopolitical zones in the first half of 2021, showed that the South-West recorded the highest revenue of N385,414,274,922.27 billion; South-South, N156,171,326,501.04 billion; while the North-East zone recorded the least Internally Generated Revenue, with N42,915,002,928.39 billion.
It added that Pay-As-You-Earn, PAYE, contributed the highest amount to the States, with N488 billion, followed by revenue from Ministries Departments and Agencies, N173 billion, and Road Tax contributing the lowest with N16 billion.
