Kiddwaya’s father, Terry Waya has said that children of successful and rich people in Nigeria hardly become rich on their own. Waya made this statement during a recent interview with Dele Momodu. In that interview, Waya was trying to explain that most of the rich men in Nigeria pass on their wealth to their children. He also emphasized that it is easier for a poor man’s child to rise to the top in Nigeria than the son of a rich man.Read what he said below, “Everybody has his own luck and way. At the time when I used to work with the generals in Nigeria, Mike Adenuga and I used to be on the same level but today, Mike is one billion times richer than I am. Most of the wealthy people in Nigeria are of the first generation, it is not as though anybody left money for them. We are all in the same age group. Everybody decided where they wanted to do; some people went into politics and business. Nigeria is not a place that you can tell somebody about the formula to get money. You can just at the right place at the right time. Anybody can be anything in Nigeria. One thing I tell my children is that, children of successful and rich people in Nigeria hardly become successful and rich on their own. Most of these rich people usually pass on the wealth to their children. In Nigeria, it is easy for the son of a poor person to rise to the top, than the son of a rich man.”
