There seems to be no end to the troubles being faced by Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Dr. Isa Pantami, as a copy of a 2010 meeting of the Jama’tu Nasril Islamiya, JNI, where attendees raised concerns over the spread of Christianity in the Northern part of Nigeria, has resurfaced online, 36 .
The meeting was apparently held to deliberate on the concerns that Islam had faced a lot of challenges in other parts of the country, and that it was spreading to the North.
Recall, that Dr. Pantami came out few days ago, at a Ramadan Lecture, in Abuja, to say that most of the views he expressed years ago, were based on his perception of the issues at the time, blaming also his very young age, claiming to be a teenager at the time.
The Minister said that he is now a more mature man, and has renounced most of his previously held positions.
According to the minutes which resurfaced online today, on Nairaland, the meeting was held in July 2010, at the Bauchi Central Mosque, and States of the North that were present included: Plateau, Niger, Bauchi, and Kaduna.
A minute of the meeting obtained by Page 36 gave a clear insight to Dr. Pantami’s extremist views.
The Jama’tu Nasril Islamiya, where the Minister also belonged, was seen calling for a religious war in the country, owing to their pro-terrorist comments. The group, in the minute, called for the termination of the growth of Christianity in the Northern part, noting that, they did not want the religion to dominate Islam across the country.
“Christianity is fast growing in the Northern part of the country, which is totally uncalled for. We are aware that Christianity has humiliated Islam in the South-West, this Islam can no longer thrive there. We are treated with contempt and as non Nigerians in that part of the country”, the minutes read in part.
The minutes, while addressing religious issues in Plateau State, vowed to deal with the then State Governor, Jonah David Jang, for his alleged killing of over 7,000 Muslims by Christians. According to Dr. Pantami’s believe, “Governor Jang came to destroy Islam in Plateau State, and to drive away any non-Christians in Plateau State.”
The minutes also went further, saying that the motives of the JNI, was to turn Jos to an Islamic State.
