APC’s Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu accepts defeat.
The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the just concluded 2020 Edo State Governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has admitted that he lost the election and conceded defeat, Page 36 learnt.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu agreed that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its Candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki, won the election, and he has since congratulated the opposition party.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday afternoon, declared the PDP Candidate, winner of the keenly contested election.
The INEC Returning Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, who announced the result of the election, said that Governor Obaseki polled 307,955 votes, to defeat his closest rival, Pastor Ize-Iyamu, who got 223,619 votes.
Rim-Ruke, while declaring Governor Obaseki winner, said that the incumbent Governor was returned elected, after satisfying all requirements in line with the law.
Reacting via his Twitter handle, Pastor Ize-Iyamu wrote: “Edo people have decided, we thank you all! Congratulations to the opposition party! They have won! Election no be war. It is time to work more harder for the next 4 years. Congratulations.”
