A former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has warned the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, not to return to the All Progressives Congress, APC, by honouring his pledge to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after he wins the forthcoming September 19, Governorship election in Edo State, .
The Governor, who was elected on the platform of the APC, in 2016, had dumped the party for the PDP, following his disqualification from the APC Governorship primary election, in June.
Governor Obaseki has since been at loggerheads with his predecessor and sacked National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole.
The much-anticipated Edo State Governorship election is less than 5 weeks away, but the political climate in the State has been heated up in the past weeks, with political players engaging in verbal attacks, and even physical attacks by their supporters and hoodlums.
Commenting on the Edo State politics, Fayose wrote on his verified Twitter handle: “My position is that, for obvious reasons, I am not a fan of both Gov. Obaseki and Oshiomhole. That notwithstanding, I believe that Obaseki will win, but he should honour his agreement with the PDP, by not returning to APC, after assuming Office for the second term, for flimsy excuses.”
