Barring any last minute change of mind, the embattled Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has concluded plans to pick a People Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain as his running mate, ahead of the State Governorship election, Page 36 tatively gathered.
This was part of the condition given to him by the PDP, to clinch its Governorship ticket ahead of the election slated for September.
“Obaseki, to avoid been an Internally Displaced Politician, did not have any option, but to sacrifice his trusted Ally and Deputy, Philip Shaibu, and settle with a PDP Chieftain having strong political base in the State”, our source said.
He added: “Kenneth Imansuangbon has been tipped to run with Obaseki, in the September 19 election. The major factor working in the Edo State Governor’s favour, is that Imansuangbon hails from Edo Central Senatorial District. He is a serial political contestant for the Office, who has paid his dues.”
Although, the source cast doubt over the choice of Imansuangbon, he stated: “Everybody is talking about Kenneth Imansuangbon, but it might end up being another person. There are reasons for this which I will not disclose yet.”
Urged to disclose at least a reason, he noted: “Do not forget that the PDP Edo State Chairman is from Edo Central, same Senatorial District as Imansuangbon. These things count, and is going to count.”
