Ekiti State former Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has stated that a former Governor of the State, Segun Oni, is not welcome to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ekiti State Chapter.
Fayose stated this in reaction to a declaration letter addressed to the PDP Caretaker Committee by Oni, indicating his interest to join the PDP.
The decision of Oni to return to the opposition party, appears to have stirred up the rift between the two former Governors.
However, Fayose discarded Oni’s said intention, explaining that the former Governor’s intention is political irrelevance.
Fayose sent the former Governor’s letter to the PDP’s official Forum on WhatsApp, and stated that Oni and his group are not welcomed.
While describing the former APC Chieftain and his group as paperweights, Fayose added that their names are just simply to fill the gaps, in desperation for recognition.
Nonetheless, majority of PDP members, especially those in Senator Biodun Olujimi’s camp, described Oni’s intention to join the party as a welcome development.
Recall, that Oni had revealed why he left the All Progressives Congress, APC, to rejoin the PDP.
The former Ekiti State Governor alleged that the political machination of Governor Kayode Fayemi’s efforts to put his political career in jeopardy, made him dump the APC.
Oni disclosed that the ruling party under the leadership of Fayemi, is riddled with impunity, injustice, and disrespect for internal democracy.
The former Governor maintained that the party is being run by the Governor through his surrogates, like a private fiefdom, faulting the manner in which party’s activities are conducted.
