Emerging report indicates that some Nigerian Military Soldiers, have on Tuesday, prevented Traders at the Timber and Building Materials Markets, in Orlu, Imo State, from accessing their shops.Most of the Traders in the 2 Markets had on Monday, refused to open their shops, in solidarity with the detained Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, who was supposed to appear at the Federal High Court in Abuja, for his terrorism trial by the President Muhammadu Buhari Federal Government.The Soldiers who were manning a Checkpoint close to the 2 big Markets, barred the Traders from opening their shops for any commercial activity.One of the Traders told The PUNCH that the Soldiers ordered the Gatemen at the entrances of the 2 big Markets not to open the gates.While the Military continued with their stop and search duty in front of the 2 Markets, the Traders who came as early as 7am, remained locked out.One of the Traders who spoke, said: “Yesterday, almost everybody did not open for business, in solidarity with Nnamdi Kanu. As we came today, Soldiers prevented us from opening the two Markets. We did not even get into the Markets, because the gates to the Building Materials and Timber Market were under lock and key. The Soldiers told us that we will not be allowed to open shop till further notice.”The Chairman of the Markets, Emmanuel Ibegbulem, who confirmed the development, stated that he was on his way to the State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, over the development.However, the Spokesperson for the 34 Artillery Brigade Command, Obinze Owerri, Babatude Zubiruo, when contacted, said that he was not aware of the development.More news later…
