Nigerians have called on the Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to immediately arrest and prosecute the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, for violating the President Muhammadu Buhari Federal Government’s marching order against the use of Twitter in Nigeria, by tweeting on the social media platform, despite the existing order, learnt.
AGF Malami had on Saturday, directed the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation to “swing into action and commence in earnest the process of prosecution of violators of the Federal Government de-activation of operations of Twitter in Nigeria”.
Governor El-Rufai, in violation of the order, on Sunday, tweeted a story link at exactly 09:37pm, that read: “Based Nigeria: African country teaches US lesson in how to handle Big Tech tyranny.”
Reacting to the violation, a former Presidential Aide, Reno Omokri, wrote: “Dear @MalamiSAN, @elrufai tweeted this 20 minutes ago, in violation of your #TwitterBan. If you do not start your arrest and prosecution with him, then you must admit that you are a failure, and a man who does not keep to his word.”
@naphtali_noah reacted: “Laws are for the poor citizens in Nigeria.”
