The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, is reportedly set to end months of speculations, by formally defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC,
It was gathered that the Zamfara State Governor who has been battling with insecurity in his State, is set to defect on Tuesday, June 29.
His Aides had on many occasions however, denied his rumoured plans to defect to the APC.
According to reports, the APC National, State Officers, and other top Leaders, have concluded arrangements to receive him in Gusau, the Zamafara State capital.
The National Spokesman of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, reacting nonetheless, said that the Headquarters of the party is not aware of Governor Matawalle’s plans to defect, as he had not officially notified them.
Kola said: “He has not written to us. In a normal setting, if you are a member of our party and you want to leave, you should write. The Governor of Zamfara State has not officially written to notify us that he will leave the party.
“On account of that, we cannot say we are aware of his plans.”
